Background
After graduating magna cum laude with distinction in English from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, I earned my law degree (cum laude) from the University of Michigan in 1981. I began my legal career in the commercial litigation department of a large Chicago law firm, at which I toiled for five years. By that time social consciousness led me to move to the Legal Aid Bureau of Chicago where I assisted impoverished persons in need of representation.
Five years later I moved into private practice, where I joined a partner in providing a wide range of legal services. I have been on my own since 1995, concentrating primarily in residential and commercial real estate, estate planning, property tax appeals and business law.
